Mendieta Osaba Wines is een klein familie wijndomein uit de Rioja (Rioja Alavesa). De Bodega kan je vinden in Lanciego en werd in 1982 gebouwd. Oorspronkelijk werden de druiven steeds verkocht aan coöperatieves. Vandaag beheersen Juantxu Mendieta (Mendi voor de vrienden) en zijn vrouw Carmen M. Osaba alle fasen van de wijnbouw volledig zelf. Van de aanplant tot de modernste vinificatietechnieken. Hierbij leggen ze nadruk op lage opbrengsten en biologische wijnbouw. De 'terroir' en klimatologische omstandigheden moesten de basis worden voor hun wijnen. In 2004 begonnen ze zelf wijn te maken van hun oudste wijnstokken en sinds 2016 richten ze zich uitsluitend op het maken van premium, terroir gedreven wijnen die een weerspiegeling zijn van de opmerkelijke bodem waarop hun stokken staan. De meeste wijnstokken minstens 30 jaar oud en sommige zijn zelfs tot 70 jaar oud. De ligging van de 15 hectare wijngaarden zijn verdeeld over Lanciego, Laguardia en Cripan. De meeste wijngaarden liggen op een hoogte tussen 400-625 meter. Ze liggen in een glooiend landschap op zeer kleine terrassen. De bodem is kalkrijk en bevat klei-kalksteen.
Ze volgen bewust de Rioja regels niet voor Crianza - Reserva - Gran Reserva zodat ze alle vrijheid behouden om hun wijnen volgens hun normen te maken. Je zal deze benamingen dan ook niet vinden op hun labels.
